Push notifications allow developers to send? immediate, one-to-many messages to their players’ home screens. ?This is an awesome power, but it requires making sure that your messages work across multiple platforms and delivery channels. PlayFab simplifies this process, but developers still need to understand how to configure their games.
Push notifications are arguably the most powerful marketing tool available right now to mobile game developers. Those little home screen alerts (as in the ones above from Diver Dogs, which uses One Signal) allow you to have a one-to-one relationship with your best customers on the most competitive, valuable marketing real estate on the planet: the mobile device home screen. With great power, however, comes great responsibility: Used properly, push notifications can build astounding engagement, brand loyalty, goodwill, and revenue; used poorly, they can annoy, alienate, and even anger players.
