Cloud Script Updates

We’ve updated Cloud Script with several changes, to make using it easier and to provide a better development experience. First, in case you missed it, we recently enabled GitHub synchronization for Cloud Script, so that you can manage your Cloud Script code with real source control tools. Definitely worth checking out. Second, we have a new Client API call, ExecuteCloudScript, which replaces the previous calling pattern of GetCloudScriptUrl followed by RunCloudScript.

New Cloud Script guide and other updates

When your engineering team is as lightning fast as ours is, sometimes your features get ahead of your documentation. We’ve been working hard to catch up and I’m proud to show off the first results of that effort with a new Cloud Script guide, a simplified Getting Started guide and an updated guide for Game Manager. The new Using Cloud Script guide explains how to call Cloud Script functions, how to pass information for C#, how to deserialize JSON strings, and how to use the PlayFab.

Webinar Wrap-up: Advanced Cloud Script

Cloud Script is custom logic written in JavaScript and hosted in the PlayFab service. Games can use this to have server-authoritative logic without the hassles and expense of creating and hosting a full game server. Cloud Script has full access to the PlayFab Server API methods. It enables adding a huge range of game specific features to your title, including ways to do things like granting player rewards, running validation checks to help prevent cheating, or computing the outcome of interactions between players, so that a hacked client can’t cheat others (or you).
